What is a Share Shed?
The Share Shed is our community initiative to share useful items with friends and neighbours in the Parish of Hovingham & Scackleton. It will help reduce the consumption of “stuff”, help in our community efforts to reduce the impact on the environment and it is FREE at point of use!
We have built a virtual share shed library - scroll down to find out more. It includes items for use in:
- The Tool Box
- The Garden
- The Home
- The Nursery
How does it work?
Project Purple simply acts as a facilitator bringing the Lender and Borrower together.
The Lender will decide which items they would be prepared to share and give a description of the item e.g. a three stage extendable ladder 6 mtrs.
- The Lender will send the details of the items they want to share to shareshed@hovingham.org.uk with their name and contact details, including telephone number and email address.
- The item will be published on the website for the borrower to contact the lender through the share shed leader as per the instructions on the web page.
- The leader will forward the borrowers details to the lender.
- The lender will contact the borrower and will agree with the borrower a time, place and location to collect and return the item, as well as the duration the borrower will use the item.
The process of borrowing is solely an agreement between the lender and borrower* e.g. suitability, duration of the loaned item, any reimbursement to the lender for any damage that may occur while in the possession of the borrower. The lenders decision on all aspect of the loan is final.
*At no time will any member of Hovingham Action Group Project Purple be involved in this process.
The Borrower will identify a specific item they would like to borrow on the Project Purple web site. The borrower will contact the lender by the stipulated method.
The process of borrowing is solely an agreement between the borrower and lender* eg, duration of the loaned item, any reimbursement to the lender for any damage that may occur while in the possession of the borrower.
The lenders decision on all aspect of the loan is final.
*At no time will any member of Hovingham Action Group Project Purple be involved in this process.
What's the deal?
The Borrower agrees to the following: (To be agreed by the borrower at the time of request via the website.)
“I agree to release and indemnify and hold harmless the Lender and Project Purple volunteers from any and all liability, loss, claims, and demands, actions or causes of action for the death or injury to any persons and for any property damage suffered or incurred by any person which arises or may arise or be occasioned in any way from the use or possession of items I am borrowing from the Lender.
IN SHORT: I’m responsible for how I use what I borrow, and I won’t blame the AWESOME lender or Project Purple for what I do with the items I borrow."
